Park East Day School

www.raspeds.org

The Park East Day School is an exceptional coeducational Jewish Day School located on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Founded thirty years ago by its distinguished dean, Rabbi Arthur Schneier, it is a Jewish Day School whose mission is to provide a combined, general academic curriculum with a deep study of Jewish heritage and traditions. The philosophy of the School is to help children to develop foundations of knowledge, a thorough understanding of Jewish heritage and tradition, pride in their Jewish identity, and respect and tolerance for others and their beliefs. The School's international focus encourages students to build bridges between cultures, help each other to discover his or her unique talents and abilities, prepare themselves to act locally (gemilut hasadim), think globally (tikkun olam) and to live with self-esteem as human beings and as Jews. Park East Day School guides its students to develop social, communication and academic skills and prepares them to enter New York's finest high schools.

"From Generation to Generation" - M'dor L'Dor

Within the beautiful National Historic Landmark, Park East Synagogue, the Leon and Gina Fromer Park East Religious School offers an in-depth Jewish experience to youngsters who attend the finest private and public schools in New York City. We aim to instill in our students a love for their Jewish heritage and pride in their Jewish identity through a strong foundation in knowledge, tradition, and culture, taught by dedicated and caring teachers.

From Kindergarten through High School, (Ages 5 and up) students study Bible, Prayer, Jewish History, Laws and Customs, Hebrew, and Israel. Values such as tzedakah and social responsibility are emphasized within the context of the academic program.

The basic curriculum is enriched with art, music, and projects. Our students enjoy special events such as Shabbatonim, Chanukah workshop, Purim carnival and Model Seder.

Our students learn to live as Jews in the modern world.

The Bar and Bat Mitzvah experience deepens identification and commitment.

We promote Family Education through special workshops and integration into Synagogue services.

Another dimension of our Religious School is our renowned fun filled Children Service held every Shabbat and Holidays at 11:00 a.m. Our children are taught the basic prayers and songs for the Shabbat. The weekly Torah portion is reviewed with important Jewish values that are derived from it. A special Shabbat arts and crafts project pertaining to the Parsha is constructed. The service is concluded with a scrumptious Children's Luncheon.
